Costumes

Costume-making, hand- stitching, hand-crafting, and creating were integral aspects of Nita & Zita’s lives. After they died, their neighbor found thousands of costumes in their home that they had been making out of found objects, pieces of cigarette foil, fabric they found at thrift shops, even tin cans!

As a costume aficionado myself, I delighted in deeply researching the costume making and costume mania of Nita & Zita and many dancers and performers. After the documentary is released, we will be releasing this research, but until then, here’s a little taste of some of the costume research from Nita & Zita’s early performing years.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
